Featuring Renegades and Roughnecks and Defenders and Dragons, the XFL revealed the eight franchise names and logos for its upcoming inaugural season on Wednesday.
“The XFL is about football and fun, and our team identities are intended to signify just that,” XFL president Jeffrey Pollack said in a news release. “Now it’s up to our fans and players to help write the story. What happens on the field and in the community, in the years ahead, will determine the true spirit of each team.”
The Dallas Renegades, DC Defenders, Houston Roughnecks, Los Angeles Wildcats, New York Guardians, St. Louis BattleHawks, Seattle Dragons and Tampa Bay Vipers will kick off their 10-game regular season on Feb. 8.
The team names and logos were presented to fans during a show streamed simultaneously across XFL.com, ESPN.com, FOXSports.com and the league’s social channels.
