Chicago Fire midfielder Fabian Herbers will miss the remainder of the season following groin surgery.
The team announced Friday that Herbers underwent a debridement repair to a core muscle in his left groin.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Alex Poor at the Vincera institute in Philadelphia.
Herbers, 29, is expected to make a full recovery before the start of the 2023 MLS campaign.
The Germany native had a goal and an assist in 25 matches (10 starts) this season. He has 12 goals and 16 assists in 143 games (79 starts) with the Philadelphia Union (2016-18) and Fire.
