The Indianapolis Colts reportedly are elevating Phillip Lindsay from the practice squad to the active roster for Thursday night’s showdown against the running back’s former team, the Denver Broncos.
It will mark Lindsay’s 2022 debut.
NFL Network reported the move is to bolster the Colts’ running back corps, which will be without the All-Pro Jonathan Taylor against the Broncos. Lindsay is listed as RB2 behind Nyheim Hines for the contest, with Deon Jackson also expected to see action.
Lindsay, 28, signed with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2018 and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. He recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in his rookie season and 2019. He rushed for 2,550 yards and 17 touchdowns in 42 games (32 starts) for the Broncos.
He split 2021 with the Houston Texans and Miami Dolphins, rushing for 249 yards and a touchdown in 14 games.
Lindsay signed with the Colts in May. He was released as part of final roster cuts and subsequently signed to the practice squad.
