CF Montreal midfielder Victor Wanyama, a finalist for the club’s MVP award in 2022, signed a two-year contract through 2024 with the team.
Wanyama, who joined CF Montreal on free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur FC of the English Premier League in 2020, has played in 80 games (78 starts) over three seasons in MLS. He has five goals and eight assists in MLS action, while also playing the full 90 minutes in each of the club’s last six CONCACAF Champions League games.
A native of Kenya, the 31-year-old Wanyama played in 69 games (47 starts) with Tottenham over four seasons with six goals. He has also played with clubs in Scotland, Belgium and Kenya.
“We are glad to have concluded a new deal with Victor and that he remains with us,” CF Montreal vice president and chief sporting officer Olivier Renard said. “During the last three seasons, he has been an important player on the field and in the locker room. His personality, his experience, and his qualities as a player will notably help us with the stability of the group for the season to come.”
