The Miami Marlins designated left-hander Daniel Castano on Thursday to make room for the newly signed Johnny Cueto.
The Marlins made the Cueto signing official Thursday. He signed a one-year deal worth a reported $8.5 million.
Castano, 28, went 1-3 with a 4.04 ERA in 10 games (seven starts) last season for the Marlins. He was acquired by the Marlins in the trade that sent Marcell Ozuna to St. Louis in December 2017.

A two-time All-Star, Cueto is 143-107 with a 3.44 ERA in 355 games (353 starts) with four teams.
