Dallas Mavericks forward Christian Wood is expected to be sidelined at least one week while nursing a fracture of his left thumb, the team announced Thursday.
Wood sustained the injury during the second quarter of Dallas’ 130-122 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. The setback was the third in a row and fifth in six games for the Mavericks.
Wood, 27, is averaging 18.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and a team-leading 1.3 blocks in 42 games this season.
He has posted averages of 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 blocks in 264 career games (139 starts) with seven different NBA teams.
