The Colorado Rockies announced the signing Saturday of free agent reliever Brad Hand for the 2023 season.
Terms were not disclosed. The Athletic said the deal includes a $1.5 million base salary and a $1 million bonus if he is on the opening day roster, plus a $7 million club option for 2024 with a $500,000 buyout.
Hand is a three-time All-Star with a 35-52 record, 3.62 ERA and 131 saves in 12 seasons with seven teams.
The 32-year-old left-hander was 3-2 with a 2.80 ERA and five saves in 55 appearances with the National League champion Philadelphia Phillies last season.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Rockies moved right-hander Tyler Kinley to the 60-day injured list. He is recovering from elbow surgery in July 2022.
