Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards’ ankle injury is improving and he is considered day-to-day, The Athletic reported Sunday.
Edwards did not play in Saturday night’s loss at Toronto after injuring the ankle in the first quarter of Friday night’s setback in Chicago.
Edwards, 21, is no longer wearing a walking boot and the swelling in his ankle has decreased, per Sunday’s report.
A first-time All-Star this season, Edwards is averaging 24.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.6 steals through 71 starts.
He owns career averages of 21.8 points, 5.1 boards and 3.7 assists in 215 games (198 starts) since Minnesota made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
The Timberwolves’ 122-107 loss Saturday to the Raptors was their third straight and fifth in six games.
Minnesota (35-37) entered Sunday in eighth place in the tightly bunched Western Conference, where the Los Angeles Lakers (34-37) sit in 11th place but just a half-game behind the Wolves, Oklahoma City Thunder (34-36) and Utah Jazz (34-36).
