Forward Markieff Morris re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
Morris, 34, was acquired by the Mavericks as part of the deal in February that also sent star Kyrie Irving to Dallas from the Brooklyn Nets. Irving signed a three-year, $120 million contract with the Mavericks in the summer.
Morris averaged just 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in eight games (one start) last season with Dallas. He contributed 3.6 points and 1.7 boards in 27 games (one start) in 2022-23 with the Nets.
A member of the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers in 2019-20, Morris holds career averages of 10.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists over 750 career games (378 starts) with eight teams.
Morris was a first-round pick (13th overall) in the 2011 draft by the Phoenix Suns.
