The New York Jets are signing quarterback Trevor Siemian to a contract, ESPN reported on Tuesday.
The move, pending a physical, will begin Siemian’s second stint with the Jets. Siemian previously played with the team in 2019.
Siemian, 31, joins Tim Boyle as backups behind Zach Wilson, who was thurst into the starting role after offseason acquisition Aaron Rodgers was injured during New York’s season-opening win over the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 11.
Wilson, however, has completed just 52.4 percent of his passes for 467 yards with two touchdowns and four interceptions for the Jets (1-2).
Siemian signed a one-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals in May but didn’t make the roster.
He appeared in two games for the Chicago Bears in 2022, going 0-1 as the starter in place of Justin Fields. Siemian threw for 184 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Siemian is 13-17 as a starter for the Denver Broncos, Jets, New Orleans Saints and Bears.
