Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery departed Sunday’s game against the host Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a rib injury.
Montgomery was injured midway during the second quarter. He ultimately walked off the field on his own power.
Montgomery had 14 yards on six carries before exiting. He leads the Lions with 385 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Earlier this season, Montgomery missed a Week 3 game against the Atlanta Falcons due to a thigh injury.
Montgomery’s backup, first-round pick Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring), missed his second straight game.
Craig Reynolds received most of the ball-carrying chores against Tampa Bay and finished with 15 yards on 10 carries. Detroit had just 40 rushing yards on 22 attempts.
