Ohio State running back Miyan Williams underwent a medical procedure on his knee and will miss the remainder of the season, head coach Ryan Day announced Tuesday.
“Miyan’s done a lot of great things for us,” Day said. “It’s a big hit for the team.”
Williams did not play in Ohio State’s 24-10 victory at Wisconsin last Saturday after recording season highs in carries (24) and rushing yards (62) in the Buckeyes’ 20-12 win over Penn State on Oct. 21. He also had a touchdown against the Nittany Lions.
Williams has 49 carries for 158 yards and three touchdowns in six games this season, one year after rushing for 14 scores.
TreVeyon Henderson and Chip Trayanum lead Ohio State’s rushing attack this season. Henderson has 68 carries for 457 yards and six touchdowns, while Trayanum has 66, 270 and three, respectively.
The third-ranked Buckeyes (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) visit Rutgers (6-2, 3-2) on Saturday in Piscataway, N.J.
