The NBA fined Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins $25,000 for criticizing officials following Friday’s home loss to the Utah Jazz.
In the 127-121 defeat, Jenkins was angry that Jaren Jackson Jr. was ejected in the third quarter after being assessed two technical fouls. He also questioned fouls charged to Marcus Smart.
“One of the most poorly officiated games I have ever seen,” Jenkins said postgame. “(Expletive) atrocious.”
Jenkins was fined $15,000 in April 2022 for his remarks about referees.
It’s possible Jenkins was acting out his frustration about the start of the season. The No. 2 seed from the Western Conference last year, the Grizzlies are 1-8 and have the worst record in the conference.
