Ohio State’s biggest gun, leading scorer Kaleb Wesson, will be available for the Big Ten tournament this week, coach Chris Holtmann said Monday.
Wesson was suspended for an undisclosed violation of athletic department policy. The Buckeyes open the conference tournament against Indiana on Thursday in Chicago.
“It’ll be interesting to see after a bit of a layoff how quickly we can get back to playing when he’s at full strength and when our team’s at full strength,” Holtmann said Monday.
Holtmann said Wesson’s exact status would be addressed “here moving forward,” but he wouldn’t say Wesson was returning as a starter.
The Buckeyes are 18-13 (8-12 Big Ten) and finished ninth in the conference during the regular season, including a three-game losing streak entering Thursday’s game.
Indiana coach Archie Miller said Monday the Hoosiers have been planning on Wesson playing in the Big Ten tournament.
Wesson appeared in the first 28 games for the Buckeyes and is averaging 14.6 points and 6.7 rebounds, both team highs.
