Panthers TE Hayden Hurst has post-traumatic amnesia after concussion

Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst has no memory of the four hours that followed his Week 10 concussion against the Chicago Bears.

Hurst re-entered that game after being checked for a concussion and entered protocol the following day.

Hurst was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Amnesia and hasn’t played since that Thursday night loss at Soldier Field on Nov. 9.

“I appreciate everyone reaching out & checking on me,” Hurst said Thursday morning on social media. “I suffered a pretty nasty concussion against the Bears a few weeks ago & don’t remember up to 4 hours after the game. Scary situation but the Panthers have been incredible walking me through this process.”

Hurst told ESPN on Thursday that the head injury isn’t season-ending and he expects to return to the field this season.

In the first season of a three-year deal with the Panthers, Hurst has 18 receptions for 184 yards and one touchdown in nine games.

Hurst, 30, went into further detail in a second post via X.

“While it was scary, it is NOT career ending,” he wrote. “I’m starting my return to play this week, so fingers crossed I make it back for the last few weeks! God Bless & Keep Pounding !!!!”
