Jamyron Keller, Oklahoma State turn back No. 19 BYU

BYU

Jamyron Keller scored a career-high 22 points on 8-of-8 shooting to lead Oklahoma State to a 93-83 victory over No. 19 BYU in Stillwater, Okla., Saturday.

Keller knocked down four 3-pointers to help the Cowboys (11-14, 3-9 Big 12) earn their first win over a Top 25 opponent this season. Brandon Garrison tallied 21 points, Quion Williams chipped in 15, Javon Small finished with 14, and John-Michael Wright added 13 for Oklahoma State.

The Cowboys shot 60% from the field and knocked down 11 3-pointers.

Fousseyni Traore led BYU with 17 points. Trevin Knell chipped in 16 points, Jaxson Robinson added 14 and Dallin Hall 12 for the Cougars.

BYU (18-7, 6-6) outscored Oklahoma State 21-5 in second-chance points but shot just 8-of-35 from 3-point range en route to suffering its second straight road loss.

BYU whittled a 20-point deficit to single digits in the final minutes, pulling within nine points multiple times. The final time came when Hall made a 3-pointer in the final minute to cut the deficit to 90-81.

Garrison and Wright combined for three free throws to ice the victory.

Wright knocked down a 3-pointer and Williams threw down back-to-back dunks to ignite a 18-5 run that gave Oklahoma State a 29-16 lead midway through the first half. Wright scored two more baskets to keep the run going.

The Cowboys shot 61% from the field over the game’s first 20 minutes, and went 8-of-14 from 3-point range. BYU, on the other hand, struggled to keep it close after going 2-of-16 from beyond the arc before halftime.

The Cougars cut the deficit to 35-29 when Noah Waterman capped a 9-0 run with an outside basket.

Oklahoma State countered with four straight successful field-goal attempts, highlighted by three consecutive 3-pointers from Wright and Small, to take a 49-34 halftime lead.

BYU made one basket over an eight minute stretch spanning both halves, going 1-of-15 from the field during that time.

Oklahoma State led by as many as 20 points in the second half, going up 66-46 on Keller’s fourth 3-pointer of the game.
