The New York Yankees traded left-hander Matt Krook to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday for cash considerations.
The Yankees designated Krook for assignment on Tuesday in order to claim infielder Jordan Groshans off waivers from Miami.
Krook, 29, made his major league debut for New York in June 2023 and allowed 11 earned runs, eight hits and six walks with three strikeouts in four innings over four relief appearances.
The San Francisco Giants selected him in the fourth round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Oregon. The Giants traded Krook to Tampa Bay in December 2017, and the Yankees picked him out of the Rays organization in the 2020 Rule 5 Draft in December 2020.
The Orioles made room on the 40-man roster Sunday by designating infielder/outfielder Diego Castillo, 26, for assignment.
Also Sunday, the Los Angeles Angels claimed shortstop Livan Soto, 23, off waivers from Baltimore.
