Cole Bajema scored a career-high 21 points, Lawson Lovering scored 17 points off the bench and Gabe Madsen contributed 15 points for Utah (17-11, 8-9 Pac-12), which had dropped four of its previous five games, including an 89-65 blowout loss at Colorado on Saturday

Stanford beat Utah 79-73 when they met on Jan. 14 in Palo Alto.

Utah built a 46-27 halftime lead after holding the Cardinal to 39.3 percent shooting from the field and 2-for-11 from 3-point distance.

The Utes scored the first seven points of the game and then followed with an 8-0 run that put Stanford in a double-digit hole at 15-4 with 14:29 still remaining in the first half.

The Cardinal got as close as 22-16, but Bajema hit a pair of 3-pointers in a 12-0 run that extended the lead to 34-16 with 6:09 remaining in the half.

Utah hit the 40-point mark with 3:01 left in the half on a 3-pointer by Branden Carlson that extended the lead to 41-18.

The Utes shot 5-for-14 from 3-point range in the opening half and owned a 24-14 rebounding advantage through the first 20 minutes.

Jones sank a 3-pointer for Stanford with 16 seconds left in the first half, but those points were sandwiched around two-point baskets from Smith.

Bajema, a 6-7 senior forward who played three seasons at Washington and one at Michigan, came in averaging 8.7 points.

The Cardinal tried to make things interesting by scoring the first five points of the second half to cut the deficit to 46-32, but Smith ended the run with a 3-pointer.

Carlyle scored with 7:37 left to trim the deficit to 69-55, but the Cardinal would not pull any closer.
