Michigan standout point guard Dug McDaniel entered the transfer portal on Monday, according to published reports.
McDaniel led the Wolverines in scoring (16.3 points per game), assists (4.7), 3-point baskets (56) and steals (29) in 26 games this season as a sophomore.
McDaniel’s decision comes after the Wolverines went 8-24 this season, including nine straight losses to end the season. Coach Juwan Howard was dismissed after the poor campaign.
McDaniel missed six road games due to a suspension tied to academic performance.
The 5-foot-11 McDaniel averaged 8.6 points in 34 games as a freshman before nearly doubling his scoring average this season.
Michigan guard George Washington III also entered the portal. He averaged 1.2 points in 22 games as a reserve.
