Auburn center Johni Broome is returning to the team for his final season of eligibility in 2024-25.
The 6-foot-10 senior announced his decision with a video posted to social media on Wednesday.
Broome averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 blocks in 35 games (34 starts) in 2023-24.
He was named MVP of the 2024 Southeastern Conference tournament after averaging 15.7 points in wins against South Carolina, Mississippi State and Florida. The fourth-seeded Tigers fell to No. 13 Yale in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament despite 24 points and 13 rebounds from Broome.
Broome made the All-SEC second team in his first season at Auburn in 2022-23 after transferring from Morehead State, where he was the Ohio Valley Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2021-22 and Freshman of the Year in 2020-21.
Broome has career averages of 15.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks in 132 games (128 starts).
