The Houston Dynamo acquired defensive midfielder Jefferson Valverde from LDU Quito in his native Ecuador.
Terms of the full transfer announced Friday were not disclosed.
Valverde, 24, is signed through 2025 with club options in 2026 and 2027. He will occupy an international roster slot with the Dynamo.
“Jefferson is a dynamic defensive midfielder with experience on one of the best teams in South America last season. He will add valuable depth to our roster and has the potential to develop into a consistent contributor in MLS,” Houston general manager Pat Onstad said.
Valverde made his top-flight debut in Ecuador’s LigaPro Serie A with El Nacional in 2023 before transferring to Quito that July.
