The Philadelphia Phillies placed star shortstop Trea Turner on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a left hamstring strain.
Turner, 30, has started all 33 games this season and is slashing .343/.392/.460 with two homers, nine RBIs and 10 stolen bases. He entered Saturday ranked second in the National League in hits (47) and tied for fourth in runs (27) and doubles (10).
A two-time All-Star, Turner is a career .298 hitter with 152 homers and 519 RBIs in 1,037 games for the Washington Nationals (2015-21), Los Angeles Dodgers (2021-22) and Phillies.
Infielder Kody Clemens was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley before Saturday night’s home game against the San Francisco Giants.
Clemens, 27, played in one game this season for Philadelphia on April 22 and went 2-for-4 with a double, homer and three RBIs in a 7-0 road win against the Cincinnati Reds.
The son of seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens is a lifetime .196 hitter with 10 homers and 33 RBIs in 104 games with the Detroit Tigers (2022) and Phillies.
