The Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Luis Guillorme from the Atlanta Braves on Thursday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
The Angels transferred third baseman Anthony Rendon (hamstring) to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster.
Guillorme, 29, signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Braves in January after playing parts of six seasons with the New York Mets.
Guillorme is batting .150 with three RBIs in 10 games this season. He is a career .258 hitter with five homers and 51 RBIs in 345 games with the Braves and Mets (2018-23).
Rendon, 33, was batting .267 with no home runs, three RBIs and three stolen bases in 19 games before the injury.
He is in the fifth season of a seven-year, $245 million contract but has appeared in just 219 games with the Angels. His 58 games in 2021 were his most in a season wearing an Angels uniform.
