Tampa Bay Rays veteran Chris Devenski was designated for assignment Tuesday, while fellow right-hander Edwin Uceta was recalled from Triple-A Durham.
Devenski, 33, was 2-1 with a 6.75 ERA in 19 relief appearances for the Rays. Over nine seasons with five different clubs, including five seasons with the Houston Astros, he is 27-22 with a 3.98 ERA in 303 games (seven starts).
Uceta, 26, did not allow a run in two relief appearances (four innings) for Tampa Bay earlier this season. Over four major league seasons with four clubs, Uceta is 0-3 with a 5.28 ERA in 27 appearances (one start).
