The Philadelphia Phillies placed right-hander Spencer Turnbull on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right lat strain and recalled right-hander Yunior Marte from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Turnbull, 31, is 3-0 with a 2.65 ERA in 17 appearances (seven starts) this season. As a starter, he is 2-0 with a 1.78 ERA, with a .146 opponents’ batting average in 35 1/3 innings.
In six career seasons, the first five with the Detroit Tigers, Turnbull is 15-29 with a 4.26 ERA in 78 appearances (67 starts).
Marte, 29, has a 2.70 ERA in 12 relief appearances for Philadelphia this season. He returned from the injured list this week after a bout with shoulder inflammation and was optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday.
In three seasons with the San Francisco Giants and Phillies, Marte is 2-2 with a 4.92 ERA in 91 relief appearances.
