The Philadelphia Phillies activated designated hitter Kyle Schwarber and All-Star first baseman Bryce Harper from the 10-day injured list, the team announced Tuesday.
Schwarber (left groin strain) and Harper (left hamstring strain) had been out since they were injured June 27 in a 7-4 home loss to the Miami Marlins. Both went on the IL on June 28, with Schwarber activated on Monday and Harper on Tuesday in time for Tuesday’s opener of a three-game home series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Schwarber is batting leadoff as DH, and Harper is batting third in the lineup.
Harper, 31, is batting .303 with 20 home runs, 58 RBIs, a .399 on-base percentage and a .582 slugging percentage in 76 games.
In his 13-year career with the Washington Nationals (2012-18) and Phillies, Harper is a .282 hitter with 326 homers and 947 RBIs in 1,584 games. Now an eight-time All-Star, the No. 1 overall pick by Washington in 2010 was the 2012 National League Rookie of the Year and the NL MVP in 2015 and 2021.
Schwarber, 31, is batting .250 with 17 homers, 49 RBIs, a .373 on-base percentage, a .447 slugging percentage and an NL-best 59 walks in 79 games.
In his 10-year career with the Chicago Cubs (2015-20), Nationals (2021), Boston Red Sox (2021) and Phillies, the two-time All-Star (2021-22) is batting .229 with 263 homers and 597 RBIs in 1,058 games. The Cubs selected him fourth overall in the 2014 MLB Draft.
In corresponding moves, the Phillies designated outfielder David Dahl for assignment on Monday and optioned infielder Kody Clemens to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.
