trea turner

Kyle Schwarber hit a solo home run, Cristopher Sanchez threw six solid innings and the host Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Wednesday.

Trea Turner and Bryson Stott each added two hits and an RBI for the Phillies, who have won the first two games in this three-game series.

Bryce Harper (bruised hand) and Johan Rojas (sore forearm) were each held out of the lineup.

Sanchez (7-4) gave up five hits and two runs with five strikeouts and one walk in six innings.

Jeff Hoffman threw a scoreless ninth for his ninth save.

Shohei Ohtani had two hits and an RBI and Miguel Rojas added a single and two RBIs for the Dodgers.

Austin Barnes and Andy Pages each had two hits.

Dodgers starter Gavin Stone (9-3) lasted 4 2/3 innings and yielded nine hits and four runs with three strikeouts and no walks.

With Los Angeles putting runners at first and third and one out in the seventh inning, Matt Strahm struck out Ohtani. Teoscar Hernandez flied out to right to end the threat.

Rojas hit an RBI single in the eighth to close within 4-3, but he was thrown out at second base trying to stretch the hit into a double.

Schwarber led off the bottom of the first inning with a homer to left field for a 1-0 lead.

In the second, Whit Merrifield hit an RBI groundout to third for a 2-0 advantage.

Hernandez opened the fourth with a single to left and Freddie Freeman grounded out, which allowed Hernandez to advance to second base. Pages singled to place runners at first and third. Rojas grounded out, but he recorded an RBI to close within 2-1.

Ohtani delivered an RBI single in the fifth to equalize at 2.

Merrifield tripled to begin the fifth as a soft line drive appeared to elude center fielder Pages in the lights. With two outs, Turner responded with an RBI single, and Stott added an RBI single for a 4-2 advantage.
