Cornerback Nate Wiggins, the Baltimore Ravens’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, sustained a minor sprain of his right shoulder in the preseason opener Friday, NFL Network reported Sunday.
Wiggins used his right arm to tackle Eagles running back Lew Nichols for a 1-yard loss on a screen pass in the third quarter of the 16-13 home defeat to Philadelphia. Wiggins left the game and the team announced he had a shoulder injury.
He had three pass breakups on the opening series and nearly had a fourth — and an interception — on the next series.
Wiggins’ status is day-to-day, according to the report. The Ravens open the regular season at Kansas City on Sept. 5.
Baltimore selected Wiggins out of Clemson with the 30th overall pick of the draft. Wiggins recorded 60 tackles, three interceptions (two returned for touchdowns), 21 passes defended and one sack in 34 games from 2021-23 for the Tigers.
In other transactions on Sunday, the Ravens signed wide receiver Anthony Miller and punter Jack Browning, and released guard Tykeem Doss and long snapper Randen Plattner.
