Dodgers add LHP Justin Wrobleski after Clayton Kershaw IL move

Justin Wrobleski

The Los Angeles Dodgers adjusted their pitching by recalling left-hander Justin Wrobleski and right-hander Michael Grove from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

The moves came one day after the Dodgers placed ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw (toe) and right-handed reliever Joe Kelly (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list.

Los Angeles also recalled rookie outfielder Andy Pages from Oklahoma City and optioned right-hander Ben Casparius to Triple-A after he won in his major league debut on Saturday.

Major league rosters can expand by two players for the remainder of the regular season, starting Sunday.

Wrobleski, 24, was set to start Sunday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in his third stint with the Dodgers following his major league debut on July 7. He is 1-1 with a 4.68 ERA, nine walks and 18 strikeouts in 25 innings over five starts. The win came in his last start on Aug. 16 at St. Louis.

Grove, 27, is 4-3 with a 5.18 ERA, 15 walks and 49 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings over 33 games (two starts) for Los Angeles.

Pages, 23, made his major league debut on April 16. He was batting .246 with 22 doubles, nine home runs and 36 RBIs in 98 games.

Casparius, 25, pitched a scoreless eighth inning as the Dodgers defeated the host Diamondbacks on Saturday. Casparius was briefly with Los Angeles earlier this month but didn’t make an appearance. He was 4-3 with a 3.30 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) at Oklahoma City.
