Oakland Athletics right-hander Osvaldo Bido was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to Sunday, with right wrist flexor tendinitis.
The second-year right-hander had been scheduled to start on Tuesday in the series opener at the Houston Astros. Left-hander JP Sears was tapped to start in Bido’s place.
Bido, 28, was enjoying a solid second half, including a 3-1 record with a 1.55 ERA in August, before the injury. In 16 appearances (nine starts) with the A’s in 2024, he is 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA over 63 1/3 innings. He signed with Oakland as a free agent last offseason.
Bido debuted in the majors last season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, going 2-5 with a 5.86 ERA over 50 2/3 innings in 16 games (nine starts).
