Seattle Storm guard Nika Muhl tore her ACL on Thursday while making her debut for the club Besiktas in Turkey.
Muhl, a native of Croatia, saw limited action during her rookie season with the Storm, playing in 16 games off the bench. The 23-year-old was limited to 0.1 points per game and 0.4 assists in just 3.6 minutes per contest.
A second-round draft pick (14th overall) this year out of UConn, Muhl averaged 5.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 131 games (109 starts) over four seasons with the Huskies.
“Anyone that knows me knows I work my ass off all the time. This time isn’t gonna be any different,” Muhl said in an Instagram post in which she thanked others for their love and support. “… This is just another opportunity for me to compete, this time against myself. Not to be cocky, but that’s an easy W.”
