Jahiem White rushed for 158 yards and a touchdown as visiting West Virginia ran all over Oklahoma State en route to a 38-14 win on Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.
Mountaineers quarterback Garrett Greene ran for 86 yards and a touchdown, while CJ Donaldson Jr. chipped in 77 yards and two scores on the ground. In all, West Virginia (3-2, 2-0 Big 12) ran for 389 yards and outgained Oklahoma State, 558-227, on the day.
The Cowboys (3-3, 0-3) allowed 259 rushing yards in the first half alone in losing their third straight game. Alan Bowman went 10-of-19 for 116 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions before giving way to Garret Rangel (4-of-5 for 75 yards and a score).
West Virginia did not punt all game and scored on all five of its first-half drives. Michael Hayes II kicked a 39-yard field goal on the opening possession before the Mountaineers began their touchdown parade.
On the visitors’ second possession, Greene scrambled for 39 yards on third-and-7, setting up Nicco Marchiol’s 10-yard TD pass to Traylon Ray. Marchiol was playing for Greene, who injured his shoulder earlier in the drive.
Marchiol was still in there on the next West Virginia possession, guiding his team 63 yards in six plays. White capped off the march with a 10-yard TD run, making it 17-0.
Jaheem Joseph intercepted Bowman shortly thereafter, giving the ball back to the Mountaineers. Greene cashed in with a 15-yard TD run in which he faked a screen pass before running untouched into the end zone.
With just under two minutes left in the half, the Cowboys finally dented the scoreboard on Bowman’s 8-yard TD pass to Rashod Owens. But the Mountaineers weren’t done yet, quickly marching 75 yards to the end zone, capped by Donaldson’s powerful 15-yard run with 33 seconds to play.
West Virginia actually got stuffed on fourth down twice in the third quarter, but Oklahoma State couldn’t take advantage of the extra opportunities.
The teams traded touchdowns midway through the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.
