Following productive play in the preseason, guard Yuki Kawamura is set to sign a two-way NBA contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, ESPN reported Saturday.
A native of Japan, the 23-year-old Kawamura averaged 3.4 points with 4.2 assists in 15.1 minutes per game over five preseason contests and made 4 of 16 attempts from 3-point range.
A member of Japan’s national team who participated in the Paris Olympics, Kawamura played the past four seasons with the Yokahama B-Corsairs in Japan. He was named B.League MVP in 2023.
At 5-foot-8, Kawamura will be the shortest player in the NBA and just the ninth player 5-foot-8 or shorter since the ABA-NBA merger in 1976, according to the report.
