Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss a couple of weeks because of a right hamstring injury, ESPN reported Thursday.
Maxey sustained his injury during Wednesday’s 110-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. He scored 12 points on 5-of-13 shooting before departing in the fourth quarter.
Signed to a five-year, $203.85 million maximum contract extension in July, Maxey boasts team-leading averages in points (27.6) and assists (3.9) in seven games this season. He has led the struggling 76ers (1-6) in scoring on five occasions this season.
A first-time All-Star in 2023-24, Maxey was named the NBA’s Most Improved Player and also took home the league’s Sportsmanship Award that season.
Maxey, 24, has averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 273 career games (200 starts) since being selected by the 76ers with the 21st overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft out of Kentucky.
