The Dallas Cowboys will be without both of their starting guards on Sunday after declaring Tyler Smith inactive versus the host Washington Commanders.
Smith, the Cowboys’ left guard, was questionable to play against the Commanders despite missing two practices this week with ankle and knee injuries before returning for a limited session on Friday.
Right guard Zack Martin has been dealing with ankle and shoulder injuries and didn’t practice at all this week before initially being listed as doubtful to play on Friday. The seven-time All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowl selection officially was downgraded to out on Saturday.
T.J. Bass and Brock Hoffman likely will start at guard for Dallas (3-7), which also will be without cornerbacks Trevon Diggs and Caelen Carson, running back Deuce Vaughn, tight end Jake Ferguson and defensive end Tyrus Wheat.
As for the Commanders (7-4), cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore and Emmanuel Forbes, quarterback Jeff Driskel, linebacker Dominique Hampton and guard Chris Paul have been ruled inactive.
