Clippers star Kawhi Leonard is stepping away from the team to be with family members who were forced to evacuate due to the wildfires raging through the Los Angeles area, NBA reporter Chris Haynes reported Wednesday.
The Clippers listed Leonard (personal) out for Wednesday night’s game at Denver.
Leonard purchased a $17 million mansion in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles in 2021. Fire officials said Wednesday that 1,000 structures in Pacific Palisades have been destroyed. It’s unclear if Leonard’s home remains.
Leonard had just returned to action last weekend after a lengthy rehab on his surgically repaired right knee. He scored 20 points in the two games.
It’s unclear how long he’ll be away from the team.
