Auburn standout forward Johni Broome left Saturday’s game at South Carolina with an apparent left ankle injury.
Broome was injured when he defended a shot under the hoop by Collin Murray-Boyles that gave South Carolina a 47-45 lead with 13:45 remaining. He fell backwards defending the shot and his ankle landed on teammate Chaney Johnson’s foot.
After lying on the court for a few minutes, Broome was helped off the floor by two members of Auburn’s support staff.
Broome totaled six points and three rebounds on 3-of-11 shooting in 24 minutes before the injury. He entered the game averaging 18.7 points and 11.2 rebounds.
