Benny Gealer, Ryan Agarwal and Jaylen Blakes hit 3-pointers in a late first-half flurry, Maxime Raynaud registered another double-double and Stanford completed a two-game Atlantic Coast Conference home sweep with an 88-65 victory over Virginia on Saturday afternoon.
Raynaud compiled his nation-leading 13th double-double of the season with a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds for Stanford (11-5, 3-2), which won its second straight after disposing of Virginia Tech 70-59 on Wednesday.
Isaac McKneely had a team-high 22 points for Virginia (8-8, 1-4), which lost its third in a row.
The Cardinal led just 29-28 with under four minutes remaining in the first half before Gealer and Agarwal connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to open a seven-point gap.
Andrew Rohde stopped the run with a jumper for the Cavaliers, but Stanford did the rest of the half’s scoring, with Raynaud dropping in two free throws and Blakes a buzzer-beating 3-pointer for a 40-30 lead.
Virginia got no closer than nine in the second half.
Raynaud made eight of his 17 shots and eight of his nine free throws for Stanford, which took advantage of 12 Virginia turnovers. The hosts outshot the Cavaliers 50.8 percent to 46.7 percent from the floor and got outshot 47.6 percent to 41.7 percent on 3-pointers.
The Cardinal turned Virginia’s 12 turnovers into 22 points. Meanwhile, Stanford had only six turnovers. which resulted in just four Virginia points.
Oziyah Sellers backed Raynaud with 15 points, Blakes with 10 and Agarwal with nine to go with seven rebounds and a game-high six assists. Blakes and Chisom Okpara had three apiece among Stanford’s eight steals.
McKneely’s points came mainly from beyond the 3-point arc, where he went 5 for 11. Virginia shot 10 for 21 from deep, compared to Stanford’s 10 for 24.
Cofie finished with 11 points and a team-high-tying five rebounds for Virginia, while Rohde complemented five points with a team-high five assists.
