Oklahoma State triumphs, Colorado remains winless in Big 12 play

Bryce Thompson and Marchelus Avery each scored 15 points to lead Oklahoma State to an 83-73 win over Colorado in Big 12 play on Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.

Thompson made 4 of 10 attempts from the field, including 2 of 5 attempts from 3-point range. Avery also made 4 of 10 shots and missed his lone 3-point attempt in 24 minutes off the bench

Abou Ousmane chipped in 14 points for Oklahoma State on 5-of-8 shooting. Pat Suemnick added 10 points for Oklahoma State off the bench, all coming in the first half.

Oklahoma State (10-7, 2-4 Big 12 ) prevented a third straight loss in Big 12 play with the win. Colorado (9-8, 0-6) remains winless in conference play to start the season, with five of the six losses coming by 10 points or less.

Colorado pulled within four points early in the second half but that was as close as it would get. Oklahoma State responded by making five of its next six shots, pushing the lead back to double digits on a
Connor Dow 3-pointer with 12:38 remaining. The Cowboys led by as many as 18 points in the second half.

Oklahoma State took a 43-33 lead into halftime, shooting 4 of 8 from 3-point range. Colorado made just 1 of 9 attempts from beyond the arc in the first half while shooting 43.5 percent. The Cowboys shot 42.9 percent in the half.

Oklahoma State also shot a season-high 26 free throw attempts in the first half, outscoring Colorado 21-12 from the line despite the Buffaloes making all 12 of their attempts before halftime. Oklahoma State finished the game 31 of 42 (73.8 percent) from the line, while Colorado finished 22 of 25 (88 percent).

Bangot Dak led Colorado with 15 points in the loss, making 6 of 8 attempts from the field while grabbing five rebounds. Julian Hammond III added 10 points 3-of-10 shooting while Sebastian Rancik chipped in 11 points on 3-of-9 shooting off the bench.

Oklahoma State shot 23 of 50 (46 percent) from the field overall, making 6 of its 17 attempts (35.3 percent) from long range. Colorado made 23 of 49 attempts from the field (46.9 percent) and finished 5 of 22 (22.7 percent) from 3-point range.
