Elena Rybakina has split with coach Goran Ivanisevic after two 2025 events, he announced Tuesday.
“After our trial period that finished with Australian Open, I wish Elena and her team the best of luck moving forward,” Ivanisevic wrote on Instagram.
Rybakina, the World No. 7, lost to Madison Keys in the fourth round of the Australian Open, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 on Monday.
Ivanisevic, who coached Novak Djokovic for five years, was hired by Rybakina in November for the 2025 season. At the time, she had recently parted ways with longtime coach Stefano Vukov and said she was excited to work with Ivanisevic, a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame with 22 ATP Tour titles, including Wimbledon in 2001.
“I’m really looking forward to this partnership,” Rybakina told reporters ahead of the WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. “I think he’s a great champion and he has so much experience, and I’m looking forward to starting.
“For me, it was important to get better, and with the help of the agents, we connected and we just decided to start working. … Of course, it’s a big change, but I think it’s going to be a good change.”
However, Rybakina, of Kazakhstan, said earlier this month that she was adding Vukov back to her team. He has been provisionally suspended by the WTA amid an ongoing investigation into allegations he violated the WTA’s code of conduct by how he treated players. He was in Melbourne, Australia, as a non-credentialed observer.
Rybakina, 25, denied accusations against Vukov.
“I always said that he never mistreated me,” Rybakina said at a news conference before the start of the Australian Open.
“I have never made any complaints or any of these things,” Rybakina continued. “I don’t really want to speak about this anymore. I want to focus on my matches here.”
Rybakina has eight career singles titles, including the 2022 Wimbledon championship.
