Trade talk regarding Yanni Gourde is likely to lessen after the Seattle Kraken center underwent surgery Friday to fix a sports hernia.
The team announced that Gourde would be sidelined five to seven weeks, a timeframe that extends past the March 7 NHL trade deadline.
Gourde last played on Jan. 2, and he landed on injured reserve three days later.
The 33-year-old veteran has appeared in 35 games this season, producing six goals and 10 assists.
Gourde broke into the NHL with the Lightning in 2015-16, and he spent six seasons in Tampa Bay, helping the team win Stanley Cups in 2019-20 and 2020-21. He joined the Kraken in the 2021 expansion draft.
In 580 career games, Gourde has 132 goals and 200 assists with a plus-42 rating.
