Darrion Williams added 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds for Texas Tech (18-4, 9-2 Big 12), which has won seven straight games.
Elijah Hawkins added 13 points and seven assists, JT Toppin had eight points and eight rebounds and Federiko Federiko had three blocks in the second half for the Red Raiders.
Baylor (14-8, 6-5) was led by Norchad Omier’s 16 points and 12 rebounds. Robert Wright finished with 15 points, Jeremy Roach added 12 points and seven rebounds and Josh Ojianwuna had 10 points.
Roach had missed the previous four games while in concussion protocol. Despite his return, the Bears were still without VJ Edgecombe and Langston Love as both sat with ankle injuries.
Texas Tech started to control the game late in the first half, closing on a 12-4 run to take a 34-24 lead into the locker room. That stretch by the Red Raiders included 3-pointers by Hawkins and McMillian.
Texas Tech made twice as many 3-pointers as Baylor in the opening half (6-3), and dominated on the boards, 27-17.
The Bears showed some life in the second half, using a 10-0 run to pull within 37-34 with 17:30 left.
Even after the Red Raiders responded with a 6-0 run, Baylor mounted a 9-2 flurry to cut the deficit to 45-42 with 11:12 remaining.
Texas Tech seized control from there, with McMillian hitting three triples and Federiko adding a dunk to make it 56-44 with 8:59 to go.
The Bears pulled to within five points with three minutes left, but Williams knocked down a 3-pointer from the wing to extend the Red Raiders’ lead to 65-57 with 2:43 left.
Baylor didn’t threaten after that. Texas Tech made all six of its free-throw attempts in the final two-plus minutes, and Williams capped the victory with a layup with 25 seconds left.
Texas Tech travels to No. 20 Arizona on Saturday, while Baylor hosts UCF.
