Louisville ends four-game losing streak to Boston College

Louisville, Boston College

J’Vonne Hadley tossed in a game-high 22 points to lead Louisville to an 84-58 victory over Boston College in their Atlantic Coast Conference matchup on Wednesday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Hadley, a transfer from Colorado, was 8 of 12 from the field, and made both of his 3-point attempts.

Terrence Edwards Jr. added 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and Chucky Hepburn netted 12 points for Louisville (17-6, 10-2 ACC). Hepburn missed most of the second half after he sustained an undisclosed injury while making a layup.

Boston College played without its second-leading scorer Chad Venning (12.8 points per game), who injured a toe during Saturday’s victory against Florida State.

Louisville ended a four-game losing streak against Boston College (10-12, 2-9).

Donald Hand Jr. scored 19 points for the Eagles, who shot just 38.3 percent. Jayden Hastings added eight points and nine rebounds.

Boston College’s Elijah Strong returned to the lineup after missing four games with an illness. He scored six points in 17 minutes.

Louisville’s Noah Waterman, a sixth-year forward, saw game action for the first time since having thumb surgery in December. He played despite the surgery before eventually sitting out four games. He had not played since a Jan. 14 victory at Syracuse. Waterman scored three points in 14 minutes.

Louisville made 7 of 14 of its 3-point attempts in the first half in building a 41-31 lead. A 10-0 run put Louisville in front 29-14 with 7:56 remaining in the half. It was Louisville’s largest lead in the half.

The Eagles pulled within 41-35 after a Hastings basket with 17:59 to play, but Louisville pulled away after that. After Boston College cut its deficit to 57-48 on a 3-pointer by Fred Payne, Louisville went on a 6-0 spurt in the next 48 seconds.

A 17-2 run gave the Cardinals an 80-54 lead with 3:42 remaining.
