Zvonimir Ivisic puts up 25 as Arkansas dumps LSU

LSU, Arkansas

Zvonimir Ivisic scored 25 points and Arkansas used a strong second half to take control of a 70-58 victory over LSU on Wednesday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Johnell Davis added 11 points and D.J. Wagner had 10 for the Razorbacks (15-9, 4-7 Southeastern Conference), who outscored the Tigers 36-23 in the second half.

Ivisic made 10 of 13 field-goal attempts, helping his team enjoy an advantage of 51.9 percent-39.1 percent on shooting from the floor.

Robert Miller III scored 16 and Cam Carter had 13 for the Tigers (12-12, 1-10), who lost their seventh consecutive game. LSU’s only SEC win was a 78-74 decision against visiting Arkansas on Jan. 14.

Miller made a layup to start the second-half scoring and extend the Tigers’ lead to three points. The lead changed hands three times and the score was tied once before Arkansas opened a 53-45 advantage, buoyed by a 6-0 run that included two hoops by Billy Richmond III.

Carter answered with a 3-pointer, but the Razorbacks pushed the lead back to eight on three occasions before Wagner made two free throws to push the gap to 62-52 with 5:12 remaining.

Arkansas maintained a comfortable margin the rest of the way.

The Tigers’ bench outscored their Razorbacks counterparts 30-9, but LSU’s starters were outscored 61-28.

LSU scored the first five points of the game, but Arkansas didn’t need long to pull even as Ivisic scored five of his own to even the score at 9-9. The score was level again before the Tigers’ Derek Fountain made a 3-pointer for a 14-11 edge.

Wagner scored four points during a 10-2 run that gave the Razorbacks a five-point lead. Corey Chest and Carter put up three points each as LSU took a 22-21 lead. Arkansas went ahead by four points on two occasions before Miller made a layup and a dunk to tie the score at 28.

The lead changed hands five more times in the half, the last coming when Vyctorius Miller made a 3-pointer with four seconds left to give LSU a 35-34 lead at the break.
