An unidentified New York Jets player was robbed at gunpoint last weekend near his home in New Jersey, ESPN reported Friday.
The player was followed on Saturday morning from New York City to Morristown, N.J., where a witness reportedly saw a group of men get out of a dark SUV and take money and other items from two individuals in another vehicle.
Jewelry and a watch were said to be among the personal items taken.
A neighbor told NBC New York that one of the alleged robbery victims plays for the Jets.
Police still are investigating the latest incident involving a theft targeting a professional athlete.
Members of a Chilean gang recently were charged with stealing $3 million worth of items from multiple players, including the Kansas City Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce and the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow.
