Six San Jose players recorded multiple-point games in the Sharks’ 6-2 win over the host Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.
William Eklund, Will Smith, Tyler Toffoli and defenseman Timothy Liljegren had a goal and an assist each and Nico Sturm and Macklin Celebrini also scored for the Sharks, who won their second game in two nights after an eight-game losing streak (0-5-3).
San Jose defensemen Shakir Mukhamadullin and Jake Walman each had two assists, and Alexandar Georgiev made 20 saves.
JJ Peterka produced a goal and an assist and Tage Thompson also scored for the Sabres, who lost their fourth straight (0-3-1). Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 22 shots.
It was the second of back-to-back games for both teams. San Jose beat the host Toronto Maple Leafs in a shootout and Buffalo lost 4-3 in overtime to the host Montreal Canadiens on Monday night.
Thompson brought Buffalo to within 3-2 at 6:55 of the third period with a slapshot from the left circle for his 30th goal.
Celbrini restored the two-goal lead 1:03 later from the right circle. Smith scored with 7:11 left, and Toffoli added an empty-net goal with 1:59 remaining.
Sturm put in a loose puck from the bottom inside edge of the left circle to give San Jose a 2-1 lead with 1:38 left in the second period.
Eklund made it 3-1 at 2:19 of the third period when his shot from deep in the right corner went in off Luukkonen.
Liljegren opened the scoring 1:01 into the second when his shot from low in the right circle trickled through Luukkonen. It was not immediately called a goal as Buffalo swept the puck out of the net and play continued. However, action was stopped seconds later when it had been determined that the puck had completely crossed the goal line.
Peterka tied it on a power-play goal at 5:13 of the middle period. He scored on a one-time slapshot from the right circle.
Celebrini hit the goal post and the crossbar on shots and teammate Collin Graf hit both posts on a shot in the first period.
