Three teams stayed unbeaten with victories on Sunday as Week 1 of the Call of Duty League’s Stage 4 Major qualifying drew to a close.
The Atlanta FaZe and Toronto Ultra are tied atop the leaderboard at 2-0 and matching map differentials of plus-four. Sunday’s other winner, the Miami Heretics, are also 2-0 but are only plus-2 in map differential.
The Stage 4 Major qualifying round has the league’s 12 teams playing five qualifying matches apiece through May 18 to determine seeding for the Stage 4 Major playoffs, slated for May 23-25 in Dallas.
The Ultra fell behind Cloud9 New York with a 250-213 loss on Vault Hardpoint, but roared back with three consecutive wins: 6-3 on Hacienda Search and Destroy, 3-0 on Vault Control and 250-191 on Hacienda Hardpoint.
The FaZe followed that match with a sweep of the Los Angeles Thieves. It started with a 250-137 victory on Rewind Hardpoint, continued with a 6-4 win on Dealership Search and Destroy, and wrapped up with a 3-1 conquest on Protocol Control.
The Heretics went the distance before getting past the Los Angeles Guerrillas M8. The Guerrillas opened with a narrow 250-233 win on Hacienda Hardpoint, but the Heretics responded with victories on Red Card Search and Destroy (6-2) and Hacienda Control (3-2).
Los Angeles leveled the match with a 250-181 decision on Red Card Hardpoint, but Miami clinched with a 6-0 victory Hacienda Search and Destroy.
