Also in the first half, a hand ball was called against San Diego’s Kristen McNabb. After a review confirmed it, LaBonta stood at the spot in the 25th minute and sent a right-footed, penalty-kick boot into the top left corner.

Kailen Sheridan had two saves for the Wave (1-2-1, 4 points), who lost their second straight match.

Orlando Pride 1, Seattle Reign FC 0

The tally kept the Pride (4-0-0, 12 points) unbeaten. Orlando has outscored its opponents 11-1.

Barbara Olivieri scored for Houston (1-2-1, 4 points). Her left-footed tap-in came in the 61st minute.

Thompson put the game away with a dash down the left sideline before she headed toward the center of the field. She then drilled a right-footer that went off the hand of Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell and into the net in the 86th minute. Campbell made three saves.

Hodge (13th minute) and Tiernan (29th) both scored on long shots from just outside the box. Angel City’s Angelina Anderson made two saves.
