After storms rolled through Kentucky on Friday night, Racing Louisville and Seattle Reign postponed their scheduled match to Saturday and Maddie Dahlein’s goal helped the Reign earn a 1-0 victory.

Seattle (4-3-2, 14 points) earned the win through a hustle play in the 39th minute, when the Reign kept a ball from going out of bounds. After Seattle kept possession going, Samantha Meza found Dahlein down the left flank and the forward buried a shot across the face of goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer and into the right corner of the net.

With high wind still rolling through the area, crosses and shots lifted in Louisville, which made offense hard to come by for Racing (3-4-2, 11 points) and Samantha Demelo’s ability to cross into dangerous areas. Racing managed only one shot on goal with 20 shots total, compared to only four total shots with three on target for Seattle.

The Seattle win halts a three-match unbeaten streak (2-0-1) for Louisville. Meanwhile, the Reign have won two of their past three games

Courage 2, Stars FC 0

Manaka Matsukubo scored a second-half brace and goalkeeper Casey Murphy made four saves as North Carolina blanked Chicago in Cary, N.C.

After a scoreless first half, Matsukubo gave the Courage (3-3-3, 12 points) a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute, taking a through ball from Denise O’Sullivan and delivering a shot to the bottom left corner of the box for her first goal of the season.

The Courage padded their lead in the 77th minute, when Matsukubo took a pass from Shinomi Koyama and found the right top corner of the net. For Murphy, it marked her third clean sheet of the season as the Courage improved to 3-0-1 in their last four games.

For Chicago (1-7-1, 4 points), goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher kept her team within striking distance with six saves. In their past four games, the Stars are 0-3-1.

Spirit 3, Royals 3

Casey Krueger scored late in second-half stoppage time to salvage a point for Washington in the nation’s capital in a draw against Utah.

A match that featured three lead changes went into the 12th minute of second-half stoppage time. Tara McKeown kept the ball from going out for a goal kick and sent in a cross that Krueger buried to give the Spirit (5-3-1, 16 points) their first draw of the season.

Utah (1-6-2, 5 points) goalkeeper Mandy McGlynn saved nine shots, including a penalty kick by Ashley Hatch in the 90th minute. That save stopped Hatch’s league-record 11-0 perfect penalty kick record, though she did score in the first half.

Utah’s Cece Kizer scored one of the game’s five first-half goals but left the match in the 54th minute after taking a hit.

Bay FC 2, Angel City FC 0

Penelope Hockin and Caroline Conte scored as Bay FC welcomed their in-state rivals from Los Angeles in a 2-0 win at San Jose.

Before the match, Bay FC (3-4-2, 11 points) scored multiple goals in a regular season match only once. It only took five minutes to score twice, and it began in the 23rd minute when a cross by Taylor Huff went by two teammates and landed at the feet of Hocking, who gave the home side an early lead.

Then in the 28th minute, Huff and goalkeeper Angelina Anderson of Angel City (4-3-2, 14 points) both went for a ball but Huff made it to the ball first, only a couple yards from the end-line. Anderson made contact and it earned Bay a penalty that gave the home side a lead it would not relinquish as Conte scored.

In the second minute of second-half stoppage, Angel City star Alyssa Thompson and Bay’s Alyssa Malonson both went up for a ball and their heads collided. After minutes of medical assistance, Thompson left the match while Malonson returned before the final whistle.
