Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was placed on the 7-day concussion list on Saturday, two days after colliding with shortstop Carlos Correa during a 4-0 win over the host Baltimore Orioles.

Buxton entered concussion protocol Thursday and remained there until Minnesota placed him on the concussion list prior to Saturday’s game against the host Milwaukee Brewers. The move is retroactive to Friday.

Correa was placed on the 7-day concussion list on Friday.

The two collided Thursday while pursuing Cedric Mullins’ pop-up in shallow center field. Buxton made the catch and his face smacked into the head of Correa and both players fell to the ground.

Correa immediately exited the contest, while Buxton finished the inning before departing.

The Twins didn’t announce a roster replacement for Buxton, but told MLB.com that Triple-A outfielder Carson McCusker is en route to Milwaukee. The 6-foot-8, 250-pound McCusker, who turns 27 on Thursday, is batting .350 with 10 homers and 36 RBIs in 38 games for Triple-A St. Paul. He has not appeared in a major league game.

Buxton is batting .261 with a team-high 10 homers and 27 RBIs in 41 games. Correa, 30, is batting .236 with two home runs and 13 RBIs through 41 games.

Minnesota brought a 12-game winning streak into Saturday’s game. The franchise’s longest streak is 15 games — set in June 1991 by a Kirby Puckett-led squad that went on to win the World Series.
